Abyssus 1.3 Update Guide

The Abyssus 1.3 update is a major free content patch from DoubleMoose Games that expands the brinepunk roguelite with a new God, the Brine Aspect Blessing category, area additions, balance changes, and the long-awaited console crossplay feature arriving in June 2025. Update Overview

Version 1.3 represents the largest content expansion since launch. Players who have mastered Brine 10+ expeditions gain fresh challenges in expanded areas, new Blessing paths through the Brine Aspect, and a new God encounter that adds narrative depth to the sunken civilization lore. Quality-of-life improvements streamline lobby management, Blessing altar interactions, and expedition flow between depths.

All 1.3 content is free — no additional purchase required. Update through Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation, or Xbox platform stores. Existing Soul Wheel progress, weapon unlocks, and Charm collections carry over seamlessly.

Console Crossplay — June 2025

The headline feature for many players is full console crossplay, enabling PlayStation, Xbox, and PC Brinehunters to expedition together regardless of platform. Crossplay activates by default in lobby matchmaking — open your lobby, set visibility to public or friends-only, and players from any supported platform can join your dive.

Crossplay maintains feature parity across platforms: all weapons, Blessings, Aspects, and area content are identical regardless of whether teammates play on controller or mouse-and-keyboard. Input-based balance was tested extensively during the crossplay beta period. Co-op builds that split roles — one AoE player, one boss damage specialist, one support — work identically across platforms.

For solo players, crossplay expands the co-op matchmaking pool significantly. Finding teammates for Royal Abyss attempts becomes easier with the combined console and PC player base. No cross-progression restrictions apply — your Soul Wheel upgrades and unlocks are account-bound to your platform account.

New God Content

The 1.3 update introduces a new God to the Abyssus pantheon, expanding the divine Blessing ecosystem. New Gods bring unique altar appearances, Blessing pools, and narrative encounters tied to the brinepunk setting's mythology. The new God's Blessings integrate with existing Aspects and may introduce hybrid effects that bridge two Aspect categories.

Encounter the new God at Blessing Altars throughout all four expedition areas. Their Blessings follow the same Minor (3rd slot) and Major (6th slot) progression as standard Aspects. Experiment with the new Blessing pool in the Blessing Planner once you catalog the new options in your Logbook.

Brine Aspect Blessings

The Brine Aspect is a new Blessing category with unique primary, secondary, and ability variants themed around the brinepunk setting's core element. Unlike the ten standard Aspects in the Logbook, Brine Blessings interact with Deep Water Level scaling — effects that grow stronger as expedition difficulty increases. This makes Brine Aspect particularly valuable for high-Brine speed runs.

Brine Blessings appear at standard Blessing Altars alongside existing Aspect options. They stack Brine-themed passives and grant effects tied to brine damage, brine sustain, and brine utility. Area Additions

Existing expedition areas receive new room layouts, enemy placements, and hidden secrets in 1.3. Abandoned Temple, Gardens, Sanctuary, and Royal Abyss all contain expanded content accessible during standard expedition flow. No separate unlock is required — dive normally and explore thoroughly for new secrets.

New Surge Fissure locations and environmental interactables reward exploration with Charms, Soul Fragments, and ability unlocks. The Sanctuary area receives particular attention with additional parkour routes and pillar sequences similar to the Brine Field unlock path. Balance Changes

Version 1.3 adjusts weapon damage values, Blessing effect scaling, and enemy health curves at high Brine levels. The Tesla Gun and Plasma Launcher receive minor tuning to maintain tier list balance.
