All Abyssus Aspects
Ten elemental and tactical Aspects — Fire, Frost, Lightning, Shadow, Blood, Defense, and more — with Blessing paths and build pairings.
Aspects are the categorical backbone of Abyssus Blessings. Each of the ten Aspects represents a distinct combat philosophy — elemental damage, crowd control, economy, defense, or utility — and binds to one of your three combat slots: primary fire, secondary fire, or ability. Selecting an Aspect at a Blessing Altar counts as your first Blessing in that slot and opens a path of up to eleven additional Blessings, with powerful Minor effects at the 3rd slot and Major effects at the 6th.

Flares (Fire Aspect)
The Aspect of Flares — commonly called Fire — specializes in burn damage over time and Flare bursts. Enemies set on fire have a chance to Flare when taking any damage, causing an additional damage burst and increasing burn intensity. Every Flares Blessing stacks Status Effectiveness, making burns longer and more lethal.
Key Blessings include Stacking Flames (Minor — burn stacks for escalating damage), Linked Flames (Major — all burning enemies Flare together), Fanning Flames (enemies take more Flare damage each time they Flare), and Weakening Flames (increased weak-spot damage against burning targets). The Plasma explosion build stacks Flares on primary fire for room-wide Flare chains triggered by plasma detonations.
Frozen (Frost Aspect)
Frozen — the Frost Aspect — freezes and slows enemies, providing crowd control that makes weak-spot aiming dramatically easier. Frozen Blessings stack Status Effectiveness alongside Flares, but Frozen focuses on immobilization rather than damage over time. Quick Freeze applies instant freeze procs, while Frostbite slows movement speed progressively with each hit.
The Deadeye Brine Revolver build assigns Frozen to primary fire, using freeze windows to line up Large Caliber weak-spot shots against Herald mini-bosses. In co-op, a Frozen player supports the team by halting melee rushes while teammates focus burst damage. Frozen pairs poorly with Windburst knockback — knocked enemies break freeze states — so avoid combining these Aspects on the same weapon.
Chain Lightning (Lightning Aspect)
Chain Lightning causes hits to arc lightning between nearby enemies, dealing AoE damage that scales with enemy clustering. This Aspect transforms single-target weapons like the Brine Revolver into room-clearing tools and makes the Tesla Gun nearly unstoppable. Blessings stack Critical Hit chance and chain bounce count.
Thunder Strike (Minor) calls lightning bolts on chain targets. Static Concussion stuns chained enemies. Static Zone creates a crit damage field under your feet. Static Repetition (Major) lets critical hits bounce extra times and return to previous targets. The Tesla chain build runs Chain Lightning on both fire modes for maximum arc density.
Shadows (Shadow Aspect)
Shadows rewards ambush play and critical hit stacking. Shadow Blessings increase crit chance, crit damage, and provide bonuses when attacking from stealth or after dashing. This Aspect excels on precision weapons like the Brine Revolver and close-range Shotgun builds where burst crit windows define damage output.
Assign Shadows to secondary fire or ability slots in hybrid builds — a Frozen primary with Shadows secondary creates freeze-aim-crit sequences that delete Herald health bars. Shadows synergizes with the Deadeye Revolver Giant Slayer mod and any Charm that boosts critical hit chance. It underperforms on sustained-fire weapons like the Engine Rifle where individual shot crits matter less than volume.
Blood Aspect
Blood ties combat performance to resource generation. Blood Blessings reward kills with healing, Soul Fragments, and special drops. The Charged Bounty Blessing drops Charms, Rune of Vitality, and Blood God's Essence — high-value items that accelerate build completion. Blood stacks bonuses to on-kill effects and lifesteal.
Blood shines in aggressive melee builds using the Anchor ability and Shotgun primary fire. Players who clear rooms quickly generate more Blood rewards than cautious kite builds. Blood complements Spirit Aspect on ability slots — kill-generated Soul Fragments from Blood feed Spirit's scaling Blessings for compound resource income.
Barrier (Defense Aspect)
Barrier — the Defense Aspect — generates shields, reduces incoming damage, and provides sustain layers that extend survival at high Brine levels. Barrier Blessings stack shield capacity and regeneration rate. This Aspect is the premier defensive choice for ability slots in builds that sacrifice survivability for damage.
The Infinite Turret build assigns Barrier to secondary fire, generating shields while the Turret handles DPS. Solo players at Brine 12+ benefit enormously from Barrier stacking — enemy damage scales aggressively with Deep Water Level, and shields absorb hits that would otherwise drain syringe reserves. Barrier pairs with Brine Field ability for team-wide protection in co-op expeditions.
Goldburst Aspect
Goldburst improves economy throughout the expedition — more gold from kills, better merchant prices, and increased chest rewards. Goldburst Blessings do not directly increase combat damage, making this Aspect a strategic investment for long runs where merchant purchases and reroll costs accumulate.
Assign Goldburst to an ability slot when running two strong combat Aspects on primary and secondary fire. The gold income funds Picky Worship II rerolls at altars and merchant Charm purchases. Goldburst underperforms in short speed-run attempts where combat power matters more than economy. Speed-runners typically skip Goldburst entirely in favor of a third combat Aspect.
Tentacles Aspect
Tentacles summons grasping limbs that pull enemies toward impact points and deal sustained grasp damage. This Aspect excels at grouping enemies for AoE follow-up — Tentacles pulls clustered enemies into Plasma Launcher blast radius or Chain Lightning arc range. Tentacle Blessings increase grasp duration, pull strength, and tentacle count.
The Plasma explosion build assigns Tentacles to the ability slot, pulling enemies into plasma detonations before Flares ignite the entire group. Tentacles also synergizes with Anchor melee builds where pulled enemies arrive within hammer swing range. Tentacles underperforms against fast Herald mini-bosses that resist pull effects — swap to Barrier or Shadows for Royal Abyss encounters.
Spirit Aspect
Spirit scales ability damage and Soul Fragment generation from ability use and kills. Spirit Blessings boost Turret damage, Brine Field healing output, and Anchor strike power while passively increasing Soul Fragment income. This Aspect is the premier ability-slot choice for Turret-centric builds.
The Infinite Turret build stacks Spirit on the ability slot alongside Freebie Charm, creating a self-sustaining loop: Turret kills generate fragments, fragments fund rerolls, rerolls improve Spirit Blessings, improved Spirit boosts Turret damage. Spirit also accelerates Soul Wheel progression between expeditions by increasing per-run fragment totals.
Windburst Aspect
Windburst delivers knockback bursts on hit, pushing enemies away and creating space for repositioning. Windburst Blessings increase knockback force, add secondary wind damage, and occasionally launch enemies into environmental hazards. This Aspect pairs with ranged weapons that benefit from distance — the Combat Bow and Disc Thrower excel with Windburst secondary fire.
Windburst groups enemies by knocking them into walls and corners, inadvertently setting up Chain Lightning arcs and Plasma explosions. However, Windburst breaks Frozen freeze states on knocked enemies — avoid combining Windburst and Frozen on the same weapon slot. Assign Windburst to secondary fire while Frozen controls primary for a knockback-then-freeze rhythm that works well in Gardens and Sanctuary.
Planning Your Three Aspects
Successful Aspect selection follows three principles: assign your strongest damage Aspect to primary fire, complement with a secondary Aspect that does not conflict (avoid Frozen + Windburst on the same slot), and fill the ability slot with utility — Barrier, Spirit, Tentacles, or Goldburst depending on build goals. Preview combinations in the Blessing Planner before your next dive.
